Nike Air Jordan XVIII (18)
  • Nike Air Jordan XVIII (18)

The last actual pair that MJ wore during his stint at the Wizards and before he retired (check the last slide). The Air Jordan XVIII (18) was a beast! Stacked full of tech and premium materials. MJs initial request was to make a one piece shoe and designers initially thought this to be impossible. After looking at automotive inspiration, they came up with these. Look at the breathable vents on the ankle, similar to cars and how they allow air to flow. This shoe even came with a care and maintenance manual. The uppers came in soft suede and full grain leather, similar to a luxury car interior. This leather pair came with a soft towel to rub in conditioner to keep the shoe soft while the suede pair came with a brush. They also introduced a new tech called “Comfort Control Panel” that was made from Carbon fibre to help support athletes to prevent fallen arches as well as provide stability in addition to the double stacked zoom and racing tire full rubber tread and stickier “crystal” rubber for even more grip on strategic parts of the outsole. An interesting part of the marketing of this shoe is that it was called “The Air Jordan XVIII - The Ultimate Whip“ (sorry about the picture) in reference to the car inspiration. Although it’s using slang terms, it’s without doubt better than using a loaf of bread for the recent BLACK CEMENT 4s
