Although the marathon was last week, it’s always appropriate to talk about forgotten racing shoes. This shoe was worn by Paula Radcliffe when she won the 2002 London Marathon (check the last slide). The Zoom Streak Ekiden is an excellent runner! One of the few shoes with a perforated forefoot for breathability, Zoom Air in the heel, full-length phylon for a smooth run from heel to toe. A true performance shoe but specifically for neutral runners with a lot of racing experience. Looks-wise, these types of technical racers from that era was always overlooked because retros were so hot at the time. Unless you wore them for running, you would have no ratings if you wore them casually. Today, this is a big shoe. The sleek, lightweight design is perfect and another design by Steven Smith who designed an entire range of Ekiden shoes. Hakone Ekiden is a week-long relay race in Japan. Designed with Japanese precision runners in mind. Would you want to see these come back?
